“My inspiration comes from the landscape around me and those I visit, the simple beauty of a flower or plant that I’ve grown from seed, and the animals and birds that visit my backyard.”
I create black & white artwork in pencil, charcoal, and pastel; working in my studio and occasionally on location drawing a variety of subjects, including landscapes, still lifes, animals and figures. I believe light, value, composition and line are important in telling my story or conveying a feeling on my view of the world; from the smallest bloom to the largest landscape. My art is a way to connect with the world around me. I live and work in the Columbus, OH area; am the co-owner, along with my husband/artist Kevin Buckland, of Buckland Gillespie Design, a graphic design studio.
