Anne Meyer

I have always sought opportunities to create art and express creativity, and have experimented with many artistic processes, such as: stained glass, enamels, watercolors, textile painting, pottery, and tile work. In recent years I have enjoyed the opportunity to devote much more time to art, and have chosen to focus on oil painting. I love the vibrancy, texture, energy, and flexibility it provides. Being fortunate to have found some extremely talented instructors at both the Houston Art League and the McConnell Arts Center, my work leans towards stylized realism. I am drawn to images that present opportunities for slightly abstract or whimsical representation. Completing a piece that clearly reflects what initially inspired me to select a particular image, and having others connect with that inspiration as well, is hugely rewarding. Oil painting provides a never-ending opportunity to explore, practice and grow. For me, it is a creative outlet that offers fun and personal rejuvenation, and sometimes an energizing escape, even if only for an hour at a time.
